Facial Rejuvenation (also called The Natural Facelift Massage) is a unique massage treatment based on ancient Indian Ayurvedic techniques.
Tension constantly builds up in the facial muscles, due to stressful situations or simply the pressures of everyday life. Most people don’t realise it, but particular worries, thoughts and emotions cause them to make the same facial expressions all the time. These expressions can become ‘imprinted’ on the face, which is very ageing.
Facial Rejuvenation frees up these constrictions within the facial muscles and connective tissue. Your face becomes more relaxed, more open and more youthful looking.
The facial muscles are the only ones in the body directly attached to the skin. So when the facial muscles start to sag, the skin sags too.
The overall effect of the massage is like a workout for your face, lifting and re-educating the underlying muscles. Just as going to the gym tones up the muscles of your body, regular facial massage keeps your facial muscles toned.
Unlike botox, fillers and surgery, Facial Rejuvenation doesn’t have any negative side effects – instead it has lots of positive ones! Clients often say they feel more relaxed, sleep better, and have fewer stress related symptoms.
What happens in the treatment?
The whole treatment is done with my hands, on clean bare skin, with no oils or creams. I go over the whole face and neck several times, using different massage techniques each time.
First I activate specific acupressure points. This is followed by a series of friction movements with varying degrees of pressure to detect areas of tension and encourage you to let go of habitual expressions and lines.
Next come three separate sets of specialist massage movements that will:
- Exfoliate dead skin cells and improve the skin’s texture.
- Start to iron out fine lines and wrinkles.
- Release deeper restrictions in the connective tissue.
- Lift and firm the underlying muscles.
- Improve the circulation, bringing fresh oxygen to the face and neck.
- Stimulate the lymphatic system to help eliminate toxins and reduce puffiness.
- Soothe the nervous system, which makes the treatment incredibly relaxing.
The treatment ends with further lymphatic drainage, an ear and scalp massage, and finally an oil massage with a luxurious aromatherapy or botanical oil chosen for your skin type.
How often do you need it?
You’ll probably see and feel a difference after just one treatment, but as with most treatments the effects are cumulative. Generally it works well to have one treatment a week for six weeks, followed by maintenance treatments every four to six weeks. But of course you can enjoy Facial Rejuvenation as often as you like!
